The Parish Council are pleased to share details of Wiltshire Council’s plans for the opening of the new permissive bridleway connecting Pitton and Firsdown. At 2.30pm on Friday 23rd May Wiltshire Council will hold an event in the new Pitton Community Orchard and Nature Reserve (at the end of Above Hedges).

There will be brief talks (Councillors, Council officers, RSPB) and a ribbon-cutting at the Pitton end of the bridleway. Then attendees will be free to walk as much or as little of the route as they wish (approx. 2km each way). This will provide an opportunity to connect with a variety of local stakeholders whilst enjoying the views that the new route will offer.

Wiltshire Council have informed the Parish Council that currently public access to the Orchard and Nature Reserve is limited to this event. Full access will be available as soon as the lease to transfer the land from Wiltshire Council to the Parish Council has been agreed.

We acknowledge there will be disappointment that you will not currently be able to get full enjoyment of the orchard and nature reserve. The Parish Council is doing everything it can to get the land transfer agreed as soon as possible.
